Prepare For Your Session

Preparation is Key

  • Read your contract. Read it again. Read it one more time. Ask questions (if you have them) before you sign it.
  • When selecting outfits, be aware of things like tan lines, bra straps, loose threads, and other things that are in your control. My policy is to not edit what is within your control to fix – this keeps my editing time, and therefore my costs, low!
  • Do not spend the days leading up to your session outdoors without  taking precautions. I do not fix sunburns, raccoon eyes, or tan lines!
  • When choosing outfits, I recommend you avoid the following: neon  colors that reflect onto skin tone, everyone matching/wearing the  exact same thing, outfits that sag, pinch, or show excessive cleavage, shirts with distracting graphics or wording, uncomfortable clothing that is hard to move in, etc.
  • Aim for the following: Selecting a color palette with complimenting  colors, limiting it to 3-4 colors max, as well as choosing a single pattern  (if desired) paired with solids (no mixing stripes, florals, and polka dots – too distracting).
  • Be aware of accessories. Remove all hair ties, FitBits, etc. that you do not want in your photos. Glasses are fine; non-glare, non-transition lenses photograph best. Choose complimentary, simple accessories that won’t distract the eye from your beautiful faces. Shoes should be appropriate for outfits AND location of session.
  • Prepare to have everyone wear sunscreen and bug spray as needed. Make sure you are all hydrated, fed, and relaxed with positive attitudes! Bring whatever you need to keep the kids happy – snacks, water, a  reward for doing well, etc.
  • Practice smiling and posing in your selected outfits in a full-length  mirror. Learn what you like and don’t like – knowing your best side as well as your least favorite angles (and communicating those with me) ahead of time is key!

Unique Style

Whether you prefer your images in all color, black and white, or a fun mix of both, I want you to LOVE your photos. I want to make sure that my style and yours will meet in the middle to make your captured memories truly unique. Prior to your session, please communicate with me about the different style elements of photography that you desire for your session.

When you book your session with me, you will be asked to fill out my photographer-client contract. Please read it and sign it as soon as possible to ensure your event date and time are reserved. Please review the Photography Portrait Contract prior to your session and refer to it as often as you wish. If you have any questions, please contact me immediately.

Payment is due on or before the day of your session. For all sessions, I require a 25% non-refundable retainer to book your date and time. I accept cash, PayPal, checks (made out to Kimberly Hardouin please), or credit card. Please be aware that credit card and PayPal charge fees so I much prefer cash or check. Thank you!
